“I don’t care what people think.”

A huge part of the process of moving abroad is hearing the judgment and doubts from everyone. “Why would you give everything up and move overseas?” “What if you don’t like it?” “Why would you do it with a baby?” “You’re leaving your dogs, right?” “What about the culture there? They have no freedoms like we do!”

If I could count on my fingers how many times people tried to convince me not to move abroad or tell me I was crazy and making a rash/dumb decision, I would need multiple hands. People seem to enjoy putting their hesitations and inabilities on other people just because they wish they could be brave enough to take that same leap of faith. What I learned is, you have to “block out the haters”. Do not let them cast doubt in your mind. Stay focused on the goal and the fresh start. Show them otherwise.

Moving abroad is not just a matter of selling your things, gathering what’s left, and booking a one way flight. There are a lot of psychological challenges that come with moving abroad that no one ever tells you. People only show the good and “easy” side of moving abroad. No one ever tells you there are nights you cry. There are nights those doubts others had come into your mind. There are nights you question if you are making the right choices for yourself and your family. That’s normal. That is all a part of the process. You have to go thru those emotions and those uncomfortable feelings to get to the blissfulness of starting over in a new country.

If you can get past those dark and eerie emotions and feelings, you will wish you made the decision to move abroad sooner.

I always tell myself that life is short. There is no such thing as the “right time” or the “perfect time”. If you believe that, you will never move forward in life. You have to just take the leap of faith. You cannot overthink. You have to of course do your research and due diligence, but that is just common sense - you have to have a game plan.

So that brings me to blog #3… “The Game Plan”…

Why did i move abroad??

I get this question all the time. I got this question when I just had plans to “one day” move abroad to Dubai. I get this question even now.

“Why do you want to leave everything you have in America and move to a foreign country?”

The truth is, I soon realized that “having it all” is relative to what you define as “it all”. Some define contention as being financially free (to an extent), driving a nice car, living in a nice part of town in a nice house or apartment. To me, contention equals happiness, which to me is defined as having a family to come home to, a fresh homemade meal every night, a business I love and get excited about everyday, great health, safety and stability in life. I started to wonder if I was being ungrateful, and I wasn’t. I was thankful to God for providing what all he provided, but I wanted more.

My son and I visited Dubai for my 39th birthday in 2024. I instantly fell in love with the city. From the safety, to the culture, to the infrastructure and the business opportunities. It seemed like a great place to raise a family. I was determined to make this my home one day.

The end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 was a challenging year for me mentally. I struggled a lot. I struggled with my constantly evolving childcare situation. I struggled with inflation. I struggled with relationships with friends and family. However, 2025 had one defining moment (or two) which showed me that I could no longer stay here and be happy.

My babysitter had canceled last minute per usual, so, my friend had offered to watch my son for me so I could attend a work meeting. When I went to go pick my son up and as I was buckling him in the backseat, a masked robber attempted to jump into the driver’s seat of my vehicle. It was then I made the decision we were leaving America and moving somewhere more safe.

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
